Mr. Huber assists the President and CEO of UPMC in supporting the liability and health insurance programs of UPMC including the provision of executive leadership for the insurance of risk management. Mr. Huber oversees the functions of the UPMC Contracts, Grants and Intellectual Property Office and the Secretary to the UPMC Board of Directors. He also established the UPMC Disaster Management Center for which he is responsible for overall executive direction. He serves as a senior legal advisor to the President and CEO of UPMC and oversees at the executive level, special projects of all types which are assigned from time to time by the President and CEO of UPMC. He earned a bachelor of science degree with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy, a masters degree in industrial engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, a second masters degree in systems management from the University of Southern California, and a Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors for UPMC Bedford, UPMC Braddock, UPMC Horizon, and UPMC McKeesport. Mr. Huber serves on the University of Pittsburgh Visiting Committee for the Department of Industrial Engineering and on the Graduate School of Public Health, Health Policy Institute Advisory Council. He is a member of the HAP Board of Directors and its Executive Committee. He has served on several HAP Committees and most recently is a member of the HAP Third Party Public Payor Committee. In addition to his work at the UPMC, Mr. Huber’s professional experience includes serving as a licensed professional industrial engineer in the U.S. Air Force, senior director for research and consulting for Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania, private practice attorney and faculty member in the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health and Department of Psychiatry. Mr. Huber served in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard as a Judge Advocate Staff Officer and retired as a Brigadier General. His articles in the fields of operations research and law have been published in professional journals and books, and several have been peer reviewed. Mr. Huber is married and has five children. He has coached a variety of youth sports teams and has participated in several YMCA activities with his children. Mr. Huber served as President of the Board of Governors at St. Clair Country Club and also served as Chair of the St. Clair Long Range Planning Committee. | |||
